Mobile Cooperation Team in the Philippines (Summary) - Continuing our efforts to realize FOIP -

The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) dispatched three members of its Mobile Cooperation Team (MCT), a special team that provides foreign coast guard agencies with capacity building on maritime safety and security, to the Philippines from 19 Nov. to 2 Dec. 2023, with the cooperation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). MCT provides technical support to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

In the Philippines, The MCT conducted Towing Operation using PCG patrol vessel MRRV-9701, MRRV-4402 and MRRV-4403 which provided by Japan to the PCG and patrol craft DF-312. In addition, "Small boat operation", "Emergency steering drills", "Fire fighting", "Arresting techniques" and "Lecture on Safety Navigation" were conducted for PCG patrol vessel crews and training instructors.

This was the sixth dispatch fiscal year for PCG technical support.

The JCG will continue to cooperte with coast guard
agencies in other countries to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) based on the rule of law. The JCG will also engage actively to contribute to the development of coast guard agencies in the Indo-Pacific region.
