On October 31st and on November 1st, The Japan Coast Guard and The Nippon Foundation co-hosted the 3rd Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS3) in Tokyo. Heads from 96 coast guard agencies and related organizations participated. From the Japan Coast Guard and The Nippon Foundation, Commandant Shohei ISHII and Chairman Yohei SASAKAWA attended respectively. Commandant ISHII presided over the Summit as the chair. At the summit, the heads ・ Recalled the importance of strengthening cooperation among the coast guard agencies, enhancing dialogue, and concentrating wisdom, technology, and knowledge from around the world. ・ Supported the amendments of the meeting guidelines and affirmed its determination to maintain this summit as a functional and sustainable framework. ・ Supported the establishment and official launch of a dedicated website for sharing useful information on advanced best practices, experiences, and human resource development. ・ Supported continuous implementation of human resource development online programs with exploring methods with highly educational effectiveness and the utilization of dedicated website. ・ Deepened knowledge on initiatives and measures for utilization of advanced technologies such as unmanned/autonomous ships, and recognized their potential and applicability
