The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) dispatched three members of its Mobile Cooperation Team (MCT), a special team that provides foreign coast guard agencies with capacity building on maritime safety and security, to the Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) from 10 to 16 September 2023, with the cooperation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).


To support the improvement of the maritime law enforcement capabilities of the VCG, the MCT conducted lectures regarding onboard inspection and arresting technique and conducted onboard inspection training for illegal drug cases and arresting technique training necessary when arresting criminals.
In addition to this training, the MCT exchanged opinions with VCG officials, and we discussed how the MCT could support the VCG in the future.


The JCG will continue to support foreign coast guard agencies in realizing the Free and Open Indo-Pacific.

- The JCG is supporting the VCG based on the Memorandum of Cooperation between the JCG and the VCG signed in 2015.
