JCG dispatched Mobile Cooperation Team and an instructor of arresting technique to the Philippines
The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) dispatched 2 members of the Mobile Cooperation Team and an instructor of Arresting Technique from Moji branch, JCG School, to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to carry out a workshop on engine maintenance and a training of arresting technique from 5th to 18th March 2023. This was under the framework of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
From 6th to 9th, at pier 13 of Manila port, a member of the MCT carried out a workshop on engine maintenance with crews of BRP TERESA MAGBANUA [MRRV-9701] which was funded by ODA Loan from JICA and commissioned in 2022. It was the first time for us to conduct the workshop to such big 97m patrol vessels. At the event, he introduced efforts for preventive engine maintenance in the JCG and checked the conduct of preventive maintenance on MRRV-9701. We also discussed common challenges on how to prevent severe accidents and maintain our engines well.
From 13th to 17th, at the PCG Base Farola, a member of the MCT and an instructor of Moji branch, JCG school, delivered arresting technique training to instructors of PCG who had participated in the training of trainers of arresting technique in Japan. This time, the JCG's instructors carried out a follow-up training for them and gave them advice on how to teach the techniques.
The JCG will continue to support coast guards and maritime safety agencies in the Indo-Pacific region, towards the realization of the Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
