The Japan Coast Guard （JCG） dispatched four diving instructors comprised of one diving instructor of the Japan Coast Guard Academy, two Special Rescue Team members and one rescue diver of JCG patrol vessel ECHIZEN to the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency （MMEA） from February 22 to March 12, 2023. This dispatch was under the framework of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Aiming to establish an in-house diver training program in MMEA, JCG dive instructors provided diving workshops, diving examination in the pool and diving training at sea to the MMEA diving team to enhance their skills and techniques.

JCG will continue to support coast guards and maritime safety agencies in the　Indo Pacific region, towards the realization of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
