Arresting Technique Training for Indonesia

The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) dispatched three members of its Mobile Cooperation Team (MCT), a special team that provides foreign coast guard agencies with capacity building on maritime safety and security, to the Indonesia Coast Guard (BAKAMLA) from January 16 to January 20, 2023. This dispatch was under the framework of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

It is the first face-to-face arresting technique training provided by MCT in Indonesia because we could only provide virtual training online in the last few years. Ten participants from BAKAMLA started by learning basic skills and some of participants showed quick and sharp movements at the end of the training. The participants enthusiastically practiced the skills while deepening communication with MCT instructors.

JCG will continue to support Indonesian maritime safety agencies including BAKAMLA.

※Since 2020, JCG has been providing assistances to BAKAMLA based on the Memorandum of Cooperation between JCG and BAKAMLA on Maritime Security and Safety signed in June 2019. This dispatch is a part of the 2023 cooperation program agreed in 2022 with BAKAMLA.
