Coast Guard Global Summit Online Symposium will be held on Tuesday, November 29, from 11:00 am (UTC)

Exploring ways on strengthening trans-regional networks of the world's Coast Guards

The Japan Coast Guard and The Nippon Foundation will hold an online symposium on "Revitalizing and Strengthening Networks" as part of the Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) initiative on Tuesday, November 29, from 11:00 am (UTC). In order to facilitate the greater understanding of CGGS activities, the sharing of past CGGS activities and keynote presentation will be made widely available to the public.

The Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) is "a global platform of dialogue and cooperation" to discuss and disseminate measures of cooperation and coordination among the world's Coast Guards beyond bilateral and regional frameworks. The first global summit was held in 2017, co-hosted by the Japan Coast Guard and The Nippon Foundation.

The second CGGS was held in 2019, with the participation of 84 heads of coast guard agencies and other organizations from 75 countries, who agreed to establish a website for sharing information among coast guard agencies and to launch initiatives for human resource development.

The symposium aims to review the role that the CGGS has played to date and to discuss ways to effectively utilize this framework to strengthen the network among the world's coast guard agencies. We are pleased to announce that the introduction of CGGS initiatives by the Japan Coast Guard and the keynote presentation by the U.S. Coast Guard will be made widely available to the public.
